Carer Advisory Service

The Carer Advisory Service can be the first step for carers in gaining access to services and supports offered by Carers ACT.

Our Carer Advisory Service provides information, advice and referrals on carer services such as counselling, respite, support groups, carer advocacy, educational and social activities.  This program is available to any carer living in the ACT.

This service is available from 9am–5pm Monday to Friday (except for public holidays) and Interpreting Services are available.

Our trained staff understand the needs of caring families. They can help with:

  • specialised information about service and support systems, the condition of the person cared-for, how to maintain health and wellbeing or management of financial and legal issues
  • information on services and supports that might include respite, counselling, education and training, or carer support groups
  • effective communication of carer needs to the people and services that provide support.
  • emotional support and problem solving assistance
  • arrangement of short-term counselling
