Flexible Families

The program focuses on long-term goals to sustain the family in their caring role and to bring balance to the whole family.

The aim of this program is to provide support to families or individuals caring or supporting someone with a disability, chronic physical condition or who is frail-aged. We work intensively with the whole family to identify beneficial services and community supports that assist the family to develop and achieve long-term goals towards sustaining them in the caring role.

In partnership with Community Connections and Community Options, the coordinator works with the whole family by:

  • providing long-term support and planning to improve quality of life
  • developing a support network
  • working side-by-side with the carer through regular phone contact and home visits
  • providing guidance and advocacy

Services include

  • providing information and referral to access services in the ACT
  • referral to counselling and support groups
  • helping to access special equipment
  • providing access to workshops and education

This program supports carers or families who are in a caring relationship with someone who is frail-aged, or has a disability or mental health issue.
