Respite Links

This program provides tailored respite, information and referral for carers of people with dementia.

The program, provided in partnership with Alzheimer’s ACT and Community Options, is for family carers who find it difficult to access mainstream respite services due to the changed behaviour of the person diagnosed with dementia.

The Respite Links program provides a variety of emergency and short-term services that include:

  • organising and coordinating respite for carers of a person with dementia.
  • providing respite support to the Employed Carers Support Program.
  • attending case conference meetings with program partners, Alzheimer’s ACT and Community Options, to achieve best results for carers and care-recipients.
  • referral to Community Awareness Education training (On Course for Carers).

This program is available to carers of a person with dementia whose challenging behaviours exclude them from some mainstream services.
